  So this is very interesting...
  I stopped here again today to enjoy the view and walked to the peninsula.
  There is a copper bench there.
  (David Turner added a photo of this bench)
  Anyways when you stand directly in the center and face east towards the parking lot, try talking out loud or making any sort of noise.
  
  You will be surprised.
  
  High winds seem to negatively affect this effect but it is still noticeable.
